Our Mission

BBCS Family Preservation Social Worker Katie Ragan was recently profiled by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services as part of its 2009 "Caseworkers Make a Difference" campaign. Congratulations to Katie and her colleagues at our two Family Centers for making lasting and positive differences in the lives of hundreds of at-risk families each year.

The mission of BBCS' Family Centers is to stabilize and heal families, prevent child abuse and neglect and avoid the unnecessary placement of children in foster care. Through family assessments, family therapy sessions, parenting skills groups, and linkages to other community-based services, we help families discover the strengths and resources that already exist in their families and how to use these assets to strengthen their family, achieve self-sufficiency and heal. We also help families become less isolated by building stronger connections to their friends, neighbors, extended family members, and the community in which they live.
