FUN WALK 2008
at Prospect Park on September 28, 2008 from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Funwalk 2008 is a 1.5-mile stroll and fun afternoon of activities for the entire family that helps more than 200 people with physical, mental and developmental disabilities receive much needed recreational services that the Brooklyn Bureau provides through our Atlantic Achievers and Bright Lights programs. Program participants partake in bowling leagues, art classes, and weekend trips in the community. They also learn to establish friendships, build skills and self-confidence, serve as volunteers, and lead more rewarding lives in our community.
To date, the FUNWALK has raised nearly $10,000 to expand our recreational services for adults with disabilities, and has been featured on News 12 Brooklyn, and in the New York Daily News, The Brooklyn Papers and Courier Life newspapers.
This year's corporate sponsors include Nike; Allstate; Long Island University; Majestic Contractors, LLC; Strategic Energy, LLC; Direct Energy Business; Lewis Creek Systems, LLC; Holtz Rubenstein Reminick, LLP; Russell Sage Foundation; Sid's Hardware & Home Center; Outstanding Transport, Inc.; Hire Point Staffing Services, LLC; Inter-County Mechanical Corp.; World Class Business Products; Davis Vision, Inc. and Harris Plumbing and Heating.
