FUNWALK 2009 Raises More Than $6,000 For Adults with Developmental Disabilities!
Despite the rain, dozens walked on Sunday, September 27 at Prospect Park in support of FUNWALK 2009. Organized by the clients, staff and friends of the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service, the FUNWALK has become the premiere event that raises funds to expand recreational services for adults with developmental disabilities.
FUNWALK is an annual 1.5-mile stroll and afternoon of fun activities in Prospect Park. The $6,000 raised from this year’s FUNWALK will enable more than 200 people with physical, mental and developmental disabilities to participate in recreational services—bowling leagues, art classes, and weekend trips in the community—that the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Services provides.
The Brooklyn Bureau would like to sincerely thank the FUNWALK 2009 sponsors—Nike, Dunn Development Corporation, Corporate Synergies, Bridge Securities and Atlantic King Realty—for their generous support. For the past four years, the FUNWALK has raised nearly $25,000 to expand recreational services for adults with developmental disabilities. The event has been featured on News 12 Brooklyn, and in the NY Daily News, The Brooklyn Papers and Courier Life newspapers.
